Governments have been banning internet contents to avoid political dispute and freedom of speech among their citizens. Egypt like many other countries has surveillance on some online contents that could threaten its current regime; for instance when the president refused to air an interview he did in the US, the government was able to ban any online access to Egyptian users on this interview. Political leaders use internet surveillance to manipulate their citizens and control them to extent that the citizens could face legal consequences when creating content that provoke these governments. Another famous example of internet banning is North Korea where citizens are almost living with no access to the internet. These governmental strategies foster frustration among their people and make them feel imprisoned while being free. Thus, internet banning must be a global concern and we must work to abolish such foolish strategies.
